International and Russian Financial Reporting Standards

The NOFA Foundation is a private sector independent body working actively to bring Russian accounting standards and practices in line with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). The NOFA Foundation has recently established National Accounting Standards Board (ASB) that will participate in the activities of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), draft Russian accounting standards and legislative amendments.
In order to support the ASB activities, the NOFA Foundation wishes to appoint up to 3 project managers with demonstrated technical experience in financial reporting issues, 1 technical associate and 1 lawyer.
Project Managers
US$3,000 – 5,000 + benefits
Applicants should have knowledge of IFRSs and/or US GAAP, and Russian statutory accounting. Work experience with big accounting firms is preferred; however, applicants with other experience should also apply.
Project managers:
- Develop proposals and carry out analysis for consideration of ASB members
- Present recommendations at public ASB meetings
- Manage advisory groups of experts from business and the accounting, regulatory and investment communities
- Consult interested external organizations on proposals for the ASB’s consideration
- Liaise direct with board members and staff of other standard-setting bodies, such as IASB, FASB and EFRAG
- Supervise other staff
- Draft publications
Technical Associate
US$1,000 – 2,000 + benefits
Applicants should have completed a relevant degree. While some experience is desirable, applicants who have completed their professional examinations and are looking to enhance their knowledge of IFRSs and Russian statutory accounting are encouraged to apply. Technical associates will usually spend two years with the ASB before moving to a role in the profession or in industry. Occasionally, outstanding technical associates may be promoted to a project manager role at the ASB.
Technical Associates:
- Assist project managers on ASB projects
- Undertake research and analysis and
- Provide technical administrative support for the ASB and the other bodies of the NOFA Foundation
Lawyer
US$2,500 – 5,000 + benefits
Applicants should have knowledge of Russian law. Knowledge of accounting and Russian legislative procedure is desirable.
Lawyers:
- Draft legislative amendments
- Review draft standards considered by the ASB for consistency with Russian legislation
- Participate in discussing draft laws and standards with the Russian authorities
- Handle in-house legal issues of the NOFA Foundation
Successful applicants for these positions will be capable of working closely with the members of the ASB, NOFA Foundation’s Managing Board and staff. All applicants must demonstrate strong writing and communications skills. The working languages of the ASB will be Russian and English.
