On December 4, 2012 the NOFA Foundation held a Round Table devoted to international experience of the professional community of accountants and auditors in Russia

The main speaker at the Round Table devoted to the issue of international experience of the professional community of accountants and auditors in Russia was Francoise Flores, Chair of the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group. Her presentation and report on the role of EFRAG in IFRS adoption in Europe and coordination with professional community was of great interest to the participants of the Round Table.

Askold Birin, Chairman of the Round Table emphasized the importance to implement the best practices of EFRAG and outlined the present problems facing the professional community: changing of reporting standards for legal entities, changing of consolidated financial reporting standards and new legislation on financial reporting effective from January 1, 2013. Mr. Birin noted that one of the tasks set by Minfin was searching ways to unite accounting and auditing professions and emphasized that representatives of both professions had been invited to participate in the Round Table to discuss implementation of advanced international experience.

Irina Krasilnikova, Director of the NOFA Foundation spoke about implementation of international experience in the course of certification of auditors in Russia.

Tatiana Souboch, member of the Managing Board of the NOFA Foundation and Deputy Director of ACCA representative office spoke about the role of international professional unities in the process of modeling accounting profession and certification of accounting professionals in Russia.

Winding up the Round Table discussion the Chairman noted that “in spite of the existence of numerous IFRS training programs in English, there is none in Russian which is vital important for the development of the accounting profession in Russia”.
